Postby Rudeboy » Tue Mar 02, 2010 6:33 pm

The 2010 Major League Gaming Pro Circuit is here. We know that you’re as excited as we are to kick off the next chapter of MLG’s storied history. A lot has changed this year, but what won’t ever change is that MLG remains gaming’s ultimate proving ground, where the world’s top pros and talented amateurs battle for the most coveted prize in gaming: The title of MLG Champion.

2010 features some exciting new announcements: The return of fighting games to the Pro Circuit; the addition of MW2 as an official online Pro Circuit Title; the return of Halo with increased stipends for the top players, as well as the return of both the PC Circuit and the EA Sports Challenge Series.

So buckle up, check out the info below, and be sure to stop back in the coming weeks for additional announcements!

* Registration for MLG Orlando opens March 16 at 7pm ET
* The top 16 ranked teams overall will hold pro status
* Increased stipends for all pro players
* Over $500,000 in season prizes. Full prize list
* Full integration with the Doritos Pro-Gaming Combine, making a total of nine Halo 3 live competitions in 2010

An All-Out Brawl
The Super Smash Bros. series is deeply intertwined with MLG’s roots, and we are thrilled to announce that Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Nintendo Wii will be joining the Pro Circuit in 2010, marking a triumphant return for the franchise. With an intensely devoted fanbase and a fiercely high level of competition, Brawl will undoubtedly find itself right at home alongside the Pro Circuit’s other world-class titles.

Answer the Call
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be the premiere title of the 2010 MLG Online Pro Circuit. While the game’s lack of LAN lobby proved an insurmountable obstacle to our running a large-scale live competition that meets our standards, we recognize the incredible demand to compete in the game at the highest level. So we will be blowing the doors off of the Online Pro Circuit, putting the spotlight on top teams and players like never before.

* The Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of MW2 will each have separate competitions, each with their own winners and prizes.
* The three Regular Season Online Events will culminate in a live National Championship to take place at one of the Pro Circuit stops.
* Registration for the first 360 and PS3 Online Events opens March 15, and competition begins on March 29.
* The top 8 ranked teams overall for both the 360 and PS3 will earn pro status after the second Online Event
* Over $60,000 in season prizes. Full prize list
* More info coming soon!

The PC Revolution
The 2010 PC Circuit kicks off at the second Live Competition in Columbus, OH, June 4-6! MLG will be taking PC gaming to new heights, so stay tuned for further details, including games, prizes and more!

If it’s in the Game, it can Bring you Fame
Starting at the third Pro Circuit Live Competition, MLG will once again be bringing you the EA SPORTS Challenge Series! Hot on the heels of last season’s incredibly high-energy series, expect the world’s greatest Madden NFL players to return and battle for supremacy in the latest edition of the game. Super Street Fighter 4 comes out in April. They should go with SSF4 but they probably not sure if it'll be good for the Circuit since SSF4 is gonna kill SF4.

If Street Fighter Comes on the circuit it will DEFINITELY be SSF4. But then again it won't matter. If your looking to compete in SSF4 it will most def be EVO to host --> http://evo2k.com/ (miss the EVO MvC2 Days when I could actually do an infinite w my fight stick lol  )

and im glad Brawl has better prizes than MW2 that game blows tbh

Well I would MUCH rather see tekken6 and s/sf4, instead of brawl, but who knows, they might be planning to get sf4 up there and just haven't released any info on it. As for the pc thing, I have heard tons and tons of rumors so I'm not even going to get too deep into that, basically people are guessing/hoping they will have sc2, quakelive, or counterstrike, or maybe 2 out of the 3.

Also, I don't know how you guys feel about it, but I don't understand why everyone is so surprise that gears was taken out of the circuit. I hear the community was pretty bad, consisting of constant trash talkers, trolls, etc, MLG didn't have good communication with Epic, but then again Epic is retarded when it comes to competitive gaming, and the biggest apparent point is that games get really boring to watch. I mean some rounds are really good, exciting, and fast, but other rounds they will sit back forever and run the clock out, and It seems like that happens most of the time.

What do you guys think about it?

Sundance put up a petition for SF4 cus he really really wants it on the circuit there have been like 10,000 signatures already its insane.

As for pc i think they are hoping that SC2 will come out really soon so they can put it on the circuit. MLG PC actually did a little SC2 thing and put it up on youtube check it out:

maybe they dropped gears for a bit more space but from the venues i've been to they don't seem like they have enough room for alot of pc stuff.
